City of Palms - Carnarvon Christian Fellowship
Founded in May 2001 in Carnarvon, Western Australia, by Peter McArthur. Peter was formerly an Ordained Minister in the Anglican Church, serving at various parishes for over 27 years in Western Australia. During the year 2000 a clear word of the Lord came to leave that denomination and begin a work based on the concept of local Eldership overseeing the Body rather than a denominational or one-man structure. At present two elders oversee the work : Terry Harris and Peter McArthur both reside in Carnarvon Western Australia.

Carnarvon Western Australia
The coastal town of Carnarvon Western Australia is approximately 940 kms north of Perth, the capital of Western Australia. It is a tourist orientated town of 8,000 people and has banana, mango, grape and tropical fruit plantations lining the Gascoyne River. It is served by daily plane and bus services, and has numerous types of accommodation.
City of Palms Christian Fellowship
We are not a denomination, organisation or just another "church", but a living body of disciples who yearn to come to dynamic maturity and please the Father just like Jesus did (John 8: 29). This is true Sonship, the higher calling in God, the destiny of any who give their all to the ways of God, and pay the price for the great reward (Philippians 3: 8-15). We have no democratic voting system, no Annual General Meetings, no Board of control, and no paid staff, but follow the New Testament model of having a corporate eldership oversee, love and govern the fellowship.
The House of the Lord foundational teachings
At the commencement of the Carnarvon Christian Fellowship - City of Palms we laid a foundation of teaching on "Building the House of the Lord". These four studies make up the template of teaching found in the study booklet. We ask all newcomers who wish to commit themselves to the ethos of the Fellowship to study the teachings of the booklet. This enables all who assembly together to have a common focus of vision.
Our Apostolic Prophetic Calling
We find in the New Testament that the disciples of Jesus were not so much interested in having a "pastoral" orientated Ecclessia but rather an "apostolic" one. The early disciples wanted to go, to do and to bear much fruit. This is our focus in the City of Palms Carnarvon Christian Fellowship. Because of this we aim to provide spiritual meat rather than milk (Hebrews 5: 12-14). To enhance our calling we send Apostolic Outreach teams to places like Indonesia, Nepal and India.
Sonship and Maturity
One of the great mysteries revealed by the Holy Spirit to Paul was that concerning "Sonship" (Ephesians 1: 5-10 and Hebrews 2:10). Jesus is our pattern and image (Romans 8: 29) and according to the New Testament we believe that the disciples of Jesus are destined to reflect His image by the pattern of our life and by submission of our minds and hearts to the Father's purposes. Biblically speaking Sons are mature, constantly led by the Spirit, abide in the Father's rest, glorify the Father, and pass on His purpose to others (Romans 8: 14 and John 8: 35 and 15: 15).
No Tithing
We follow the New Testament pattern of financial giving and therefore use the principle of GENEROSITY rather than relying on the Old Testament duty of tithing (giving a tenth). This has enabled us to be free from the constraint of seeing the offering of money as being a "law". Each person is encouraged to be led of the Spirit in their regular generosity to extend the Kingdom of God. Except for the once-a-week hire of a hall we use, ALL our finance goes OUTSIDE the Fellowship. We support orphanages in Indonesia, Nepal and India, and help maintain a Youth With A Mission (YWAM) base in Bombay, and give wherever the Lord directs us. We find this wonderfully exhilarating!
Our Name - City of Palms
The name City of Palms here in Carnarvon came by revelation from the Lord and is of course the Biblical name for Jericho. The connection between Carnarvon in Western Australia and Jericho in Israel is outlined in our free booklet "Symbolism of the Palm in Scripture". The Biblical typology of the Palm Tree is also discussed in this booklet, highlighting the importance of the tree and its prophetic significance.
